your car is leaking oil onto your engine causing the whit smoke and the knocking means you broke a rod if you keep driving it like that it will go straight through your engine then the cars done.you can either junk it, replace the engine or fix the oil leak which is prolly a blown head gasket, mechanics will charge you up the ass unless you do that head gasket yourself which if you dont have experience is not worth your time

...has knocking sound when driven? any suggestions what to do
it doesn't knock unless the car is driving. smoke seems to get worse as i give it gas on the pedal.

A couple of questions we need answered: is the coolant disappearing rapidly (like having to top it up every day)? Does that knocking sound match the engine speed or the car speed, or neither?

We are seeing a lot of "white smoke" posts in the last few weeks due to the onset of cold temperatures. So far all of them have been due to normal condensation in the exhaust in cold weather. Head gasket failures and the like are more common in the summer, when overheating is more of a problem. If your coolant is not disappearing it is not getting into the combustion chambers, I guarantee. If coolant is disappearing that is a real concern.

The knocking is a separate thing. Knocking sounds from the engine can be a lot of things, but if they vary in speed with the car rather than with the engine it won't be any of those.

Depends on where the knock sounds is coming from. If its coming from under the hood I would say that you have a sticky lifter or a rod knocking. If it sounds more underneath the car its probably your catalytic converter.

White smoke means water in the oil. When this water( and antifreeze) gets into the oil, it comes out the tail pipe white. Once water has dun this it most likely means a blown head gasket
