...speed, i kno it doesnt go 160? i know my car doesnt go 160 as the speedometer says it does so how can i get some sort of scanner to figure out the speed of my car?
Hi, asd, It's late and I'm not going to research it but... just maybe, the speedometer display is metric (kilometers per hour). Not sure of the exact conversion but, I think 55mph (normal US limit) equates to about 80 kph. That is, when your actually going 55mph, the speedometer will show 80(kph). Thus, 160 kph would roughly equal 110 mph or so.
If your speedo is analog; round gage with a pointer to indicate speed, there may be another smaller set of numbers just below the other bold speed numbers. If digital, there may be a button somewhere on the steering column or instrument panel to switch between US/Metric speeds.
If you want to check it for sure... The Acura will have an "Odometer" near the speedometer. Take a friend along for the ride, with a pencil and paper and find a fairly straight stretch of interstate highway. You will find signs "mile markers" along the road.
When you pass one, doesn't matter what speed, have your friend write down the "mile marker" and the odometer (mileage) reading on the speedometer. Drive about 20 miles or so writing down both at each mileage marker. When you get back, compare the results...
If you traveled 20 miles and the odometer also says 20 miles (within a mile or so) then the speedometer is probably correct. If you traveled 20 miles and the odometer says you went, like 28 miles, then your speedometer is probably metric.
Service visits are expensive. You might want to stop by an Acura dealer, pretend to be interested in a new or used one, then casually ask about your 160 speedometer.
All depends on the display and what market the car was originally sold in. Good Luck.
Well, most american made cars only go the legal speed limit even though they have 160 it only goes 120. Due to your car being a foreign car your car should go much faster please check with your acura dealership or a repair shop who works on race cars
