even though there are no apparent? leaks, I immediately thought it must be getting into the oil, so I took of the oil cap and there was a yellowish, brown sludge look on the oil cap and filler tube, Is this more than likely a head gasket or cracked head? There is no white smoke coming from the exhaust tips?
I just bought the car yesterday, It had a full service in august of this year and all the fluids were supposedly ok, I know the car is driven very little it is a 2000 with only 39000 miles, why would moisutre get in the cap? and how much? When looking at the dipstick the oil appears fine, but the creamy yellow looking stuff in the oil filler tube has me worried. where else could the coolant have gone?

You need to check the oil by draining the oil. If is is milky then there is a coolant to oil problem. Sometimes there is some condensation in the oil cap that doesn't mean anything. Is this the first and only time you have added coolant?
