thats right, nothing to worry about just make sure to keep an eye on it unless you want to put a new motor in it

i have an 96 honda and everytime i do an oil change it wastes alot of oil. My car doesnt smoke doesnt leak aint mixing and not overheating its probally burning it but i dont know what it can be everyone tells me something the same or different and the car runs very good. I also went to the honda dealer and the guy told me after he looked at it that the car is vtech so it burns 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles i thought that was insane but can anyone tell me is he right or not thank you?

that seems right, had the very same car just a 97. I put on a bigger oil filter and used 10-40 synthetic. Drove the care 220k before selling it.

It shouldn't burn a quart of oil just b/c its a v-tec.
There may be a common problem with v-tecs that burn oil, but I'm sure that it's not a "standard" thing.
I had a car that burned oil, and as long as it's runnign fine (startup, acceleration, no smoke, no leaks etc.) I was fine to just add oil on a regular basis. With a 96, it's probably a better idea just to buy a case of oil and keep it with you. That will likely be cheaper than getting it fixed...
Good luck.

yeah it's a standard that cars over 60K miles will burn 1 quart every 1000 miles. Not all do but it's not out of the ordinary. You're right, you are probably burning it. Here's what I would do (I used to own a 98 civic EX and know exactly what you're talking about.):

Do a 'MMO piston soak' <-- google it
-you probably have carbon residues on your cylinder sleeves creating a gap b/w the rings and the cyclinder wall for oil to slip through

Get Seafoam and follow the directions on the bottle
- this will help clear carbon buildup on your valves among other things, very good stuff .

Use only high mileage oil. Synthetic oil's molecules are small and can slip through tiny cracks easier.
