I have a question about bike sizing?

I ride a roadbike, and is it better to have a bigger frame and have the seat not as high up, or have a smaller frame with the seat higher, I'm asking because I ride a 58cm bike with the seat not too high up and it feels good/comfortable, but my recommended frame size for my height is 54cm, when I buy a new bike which one do you think is better from a performance standpoint?

It would help to know how tall you are. A 54cm frame, according to the chart I use, is recommended for someone about 5'6" to 5'9" tall. The 58cm frame for someone closer to 6' tall.

That being said...there IS NO set standard. A 55cm frame size from one company may & probably will have a different 'stand-over' height than the same size from a different company. That's the problem...they all vary.

The one that rides the best & feels the best to you personally after an extensive test ride - buy it.
