I have been using just something like "1" for the first couple of weeks... its been working but does this damage it..?? where can i find the PROPER passcode..or is it not needed?

It doesn't hurt anything; it's strictly a question of software, and has nothing to do with the hardware.

When pairing two Bluetooth devices, many times the "receiving" device will ask you to enter a passcode; it can be anything you like. If you're in a situation where you know you'll be the only one "seeing" the device while it's in visible mode, there's nothing wrong with using a simple passcode. If you think you'll be pairing it in a situation where there are potentially lots of devices, than a more-secure passcode would be reasonable, but most people never have any need of that at all.
