i have an eco engine in my opel astra 02 but is taps when beening started up and

when just ticking over, why? when it starts it taps but driving it sounds perfect. ive been told its cause its an eco engine as oil filters been changed and we just been to the garage to replace an egr vavle and updated the ecu, we then asked it everything else ok they said grand but it dosent sound it, is this normel and am i worrying over nothing???? or leaving the tapping will it cause more damage please help confused.com

Just a bit of wear in the hydraulic tappets, if it disappears after a minute there's nothing to worry about.
Sometimes gets worse if the oil is quite old. Might be worth changing it.

The tapping should only last for a couple seconds when you start up its only the delay until the oil gets to the camshaft and followers
