I have an elderly dog who tenses up & starts whining randomly? What's wrong with him?

We adopted him & we aren't sure of his age. But when he tenses up sometimes he poops and pees where he is. Can anyone explain what might be wrong with him?

My dog is older, too. She has done the tensing up, too. It could be arthritis. Honestly, it sounds like it could be nerve problems with him peeing on himself. Some older dogs get bulging disks and things of that nature. You should most definitely get him to the vet.

Older, probably something is hurting, get a vet check, may be drugs to help. Most likly arthrius.
