I have an LCD TV without cable/sattelite, should I buy a converter box?

Should my basic channels automatically come on when I turn the TV on? My TV says Dolby Digital, so I'm assuming that means it's a digital TV. If I don't need to buy a converter box, do I still need to buy a digital antennae?
