I have AVG anti virus, is it fully safe to download a torrent?

I just downloaded the newest version of AVG, would I be okay to download a torrent off of thepiratebay.org or supernova?
 
Yeah I have avg and download torrents all the time via utorrent!
If your unsure when you are on pirate bay or ISOhunt read the comments people have left on the torrent so you know what your getting!!
