I have DIRECTV and I can't get my HD channels to show the full screen on...

...my plasma tv? TV has black vertical bars on the side and will not show the full screen on HD channels

You need to change your screen settings look for the setting that says. zoom, normal, 16-9,4-3, letter box. These are the ones that you need to change.
