I have heard Nokia 5800 made before Feb 09 has manufacturing defects? Is it true?

I'm not sure how to identify when it was made unless you check out the companies web site maybe.
I have not heard good things about Nokia phones and that they were cheaply made. But most people I know don't use them. They use either samsung or LG so maybe they don't even know if they are good or not.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
 
If I want to buy this handset, is there a way to identify when was it made? and whether the handset I want to buy has any problem or not?
