I hear a ticking sound and sort of a rumble whenever I turn on the a/c in my truck?

i have a 99 GMC Sierra
I hear this on a lot of GMs
is it more of an issue of comfort or is something wrong
my a/c works perfectly - ice cold
is it something i should repair right away
I just changed the a/c belt today and still same sound
