I need help on the size of tires when changing from mountain bike tires to road or...

...slick tires.? I have a mountain bike and i want to put slicks or road tires on it so i can ride it on my trainer and have an easier ride on the road, but im confused about the size. My tire says its 26 by 1.95 and i called a bike shop and they said they only have 26 by 1.50 or 26 by 1.75. I dont really know what that stuff means but will any of those tires still work on my bike?
