I remember some time ago reading a book that fascinated me and i really want to read it again but i cannot even begin to think of its name, all i remember is the start of the book...roughly 
The main character is male who is not very well off and is quite unlucky, i think its set in the future as there is something to do with a large spaceship being built. The man goes to a casino to try his luck and sits down at a game with another man who seems to be very lucky as he is winning, they both continue to get large profits with the man who the story is centered around stopping at some point as he doesnt want to lose his money, so he goes to the toilet. When he comes out of the toilet and goes to exchange his chips he is told he cannot do this as the casino has been wiped out due to the man he was playing with winning everything, the main character protested saying he couldnt hear in the toilet but he was unable to get any money.
