I need help with an old iPod shuffle!?

I forgot about my old iPod shuffle until today and when I tried turning it on, nothing.
The light would blink green then yellow a few times then turn off.
I tried plugging it into my computer to update it but everytime I tried, it would freeze my computer.
help?
 
it most likely needs to be restored and have an update for the software.
