I would like to use the IPAD for my main wireless module and the rest well explained before and like to keep my budget on this around 1200 dollars, ready to do this now, explain to me about the IPAD. I know nothing about it but it seems like the best user friendly device, better then a laptop for what I am trying to setup.
I am having a serious issue with power, my parents are tripping out cause they say my room alone is doubling the power bill of the entire rest of the house, my dad will help me setup new systems but I am also buying some hardware too.
I like to watch tv series/movies but I don't have a laptop, well I do it just doesn't have a tv out.
I have a power hungry gaming machine which I have on 24/7 connected to three external 1.5 TB drives where I keep all my media on.
Display one is my viewsonic 22" nothing special and the secondary is my tv which is also out of date, sony vega 32" and that is what I watch all my movies/tv series on from the computer.
Sound I use a
Yamaaha AV receiver with 5.1 klipsch speakers using a creative DTS-610 so I can get a digital single connecting it to the computer.
So I bought a 26" LCD monitor, swivel wall arm which is connected on the wall by my bed so when I lay down in bed the screen is about 4-5 feet from me which works out good and currently I have it connected to the laptop, but it is a pain trying to manage the laptop when laying down, fine when I set the movie or tv show I want to watch but not efficient enough for me.
First off what can the IPAD offer me in this situation, using the IPAD since it is easy to use with the technology it uses with just holding it and touching the screen and blah blah u know what I mean, can i connect it to the 26" LCD screen, and connect the IPAD to the internet using wireless, i assume it can connect to the internet by means of using the wireless router. explain what possible things I can do please... Oh and great if it can connect to the LCD monitor but can it connect some how using some other third party hardware so I can transmit wireless to the LCD monitor so I don't have to mess with wires. You know how the higher end vaio sony laptop comes with this piece of hardware so if you want to watch something on your HDMI tv or LCD tv you just click a button and it transmits to the display which of course that the display you are transmitting too has that hardware which I don't know the name of at the moment but "wireless videocard connected on the tv end.
now lets focus on the desk area, I will still have the power hungry tower still here but it will only be on when I want to play a game, The laptop will be used and connected to the three external 1.5TB HDD and will run 24/7 pretty much for use of incoming downloads and be connected to the network so I hope the IPAD can receive access to the storage devices and the laptop will be connected to the 22" monitor using a VPN so the tower when on can at least have access to, I want nothing to run independently once turned on.
And last but least the sound from the AV receiver connected to the DTS-610 will have to be connected to the IPAD I assume right, it can't be connected to the laptop which is transmitting everything cause that is not what is playing the media, the IPAD is playing the media to the output display so I assume it is not a big deal, I can run splitters and run a long wire to the bed area so when I set it to play media, the ipad will be just have a stereo plug in it and hopefully not a display wire either, pretty simple right, tell me what hardware I need to start this project, i want to start now so I really inpatient cause ive been planning this for some time now and my parents want me to change the setup NOW.
