I need some kind of PDA or Palm Pilot for school and work... Which one?

I need something to keep me organized, with everything in the same spot. i don;t need a phone or wi-fi internet, but i do understand that the new ones all have that included, so if it does include those options, it is OK. But i do want a newer one with great functions, applications, and accessibility. I have looked at a few, and i doctor i know uses a Tungsten TX. That one seems ok, but how new is it? and does it work alright? if not, what other kinds are out there, in about the $250.00 range... give or take. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!
