I picked up a cockroach at Long John Silvers and people stared, why?

I was eating peacefully and I saw a little cockroach walk towards me and I picked it up and put him in the plate so he can have some food and people were laughing and walked out and some laughed at me I don't get it why, why couldn't they just mind their business why do people have to always put others down?
