...lan adaptor for the use of? internet on it or is there a cheaper alternative that will work just as well? Thanks in advance.
 
For USB, your only option is theirs, because that is all they can support on their embedded system (lesson from TiVo, in their attempt to support commercial PC adapters on their embedded platform; they gave up and made their own adapter).

Otherwise, you need a Wireless-Ethernet bridge, such as the Netgear device the other answerer mentioned.
