Go on vacation for about 1-2 weeks.
If you're "roaming" for that long, T-Mobile will send you a letter terminating your account due to excessive roaming.
It worked for us, we got brand new phones with the 2-year contract. The next month, my wife went out of town for two weeks on a business trip. The next thing we know, T-Mobile sends us a letter saying that they're terminating her line because of excessive roaming. We're on a family plan. So I called T-Mobile and got them to terminate my line as well. We got to keep the new phones and did not have to pay any fees.
We still have our family plan - it's just not with T-Mobile.

Do you have a contract with T-Mobile? Then you have to pay an early termination fee. You agreed to this when you agreed to the contract. Unless you pay that fee, you're stuck with them until the contract is up.
