I go about it? Hey there

I really want to help out in Africa somewhere, and was going to propose to some of my teachers going there sometime as a group (I'm at secondary school) to help out there, as I think it'd be a really good experience and would open our materialistic eyes to what is really happening all over the world. If anyone could point me in the direction of a volunteer group which could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks for your time.
This is a serious question for a serious cause, I don't want idiots like this dude below answering with stupid comments.

There are many groups you could check out and learn about...and it would probably take a year or two to get it going. See list at site below. also, Oprah Winfrey has a program training high school kids to do this very thing. See 2nd site to read info on "O Ambassadors."

Probably best to go with an established group already.

This is fantastic of you to want. If you can get others motivated and get their parents permission as well, all the better!

My school went last August to Kenya with a group called Camps International which was good, but it normally takes 2 years from booking and signing up to actually going. I was in Yr 11 when we left. You need to pitch the idea to your head but it really is such an awe inspiring experience, I'd really recommend it. We spend 1 1/2 weeks doing community work in Nanyuki (schools, building), a week climbing Mnt Kenya, a week in Mwaluganje elephant sanctuary and 3 days on Diani beach, but you could also go to Tanzania.
It is expensive though (£3,500) so make sure you have enough people willing to do it! Good Luck x
