My mom is 47 and LOVES LOVE LOVES cruises. However, she hasn't taken one in over 10 years. The last time she was supposed to ( it was supposed to be a family trip), Hurricane George made like he was turning up the coast and they cancelled our Cruise the night before we were supposed to fly out. (Lo and behold, the little brat turned into the Gulf instead. grr)
She's been through alot of crap in the past couple of years and she is always saying how she wants to take a cruise but couldn't afford one. So, for mothers day, next year, I want to send her on a 4-5 day cruise to the Bahamas (her preferred destination) Her preferred Cruise line is Carnival (YEs, I know they just had a fire and the pax had to eat spam and blah blah blah lol)
I have never planned a cruise before...I'm actually terrified of water so the idea of getting on a giant floating tub in the middle of the ocean does NOT appeal to me! What do I need? Carnival has some great rates for next fall but I don't know the difference between the different ships. Can I book it in her name without having something sent to her specifically until I'm ready to give her the ticket? Are there any "Child-free" options? What kinds of cool things could I book for her on shore in the Bahamas? Can I book things like spa treatments in advance?
Lastly, what are some creative ways to give her the folder without tipping her off right away (hehehe..I'm a little brat who likes to tornent her mother!)
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
