I was wondering about the blackberry $30 data charge?

A friend of mine recently gave me his old blackberry tour and when I called to activate it, they said I needed to add a $30 for data. There is 3 lines on my plan, including mine, and I want to know if the $30 will cover the other lines if we decide to get them smartphones.

No. This $30 data plan covers your phone, and your phone alone and it's required for you to use the phone. If the other lines on your plan got smartphones, they'd have to add another $30 data plan for their phone as well.
