I would like to convert my VHS and 8mm tapes to DVD.?

I have many and don't want to pay $30 each. Can you explain in detail the equipment needed and the best way to do this.
 
if they are home made movies, you can buy a vcr to dvd converter at walmart.

or if there copyrighted vcr movies you buy at the store, you'll have to buy a video capture device for your computer. you can buy one here for $11.59 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11267

and if you buy a dvd burner, you can burn your video files on to a dvd that you can watch on your tv.
