..or who believes discrimination against men is ok... does that mean technically she isn't a feminist since feminism is about women having "equal" rights to men and not supremacy and special privileges in every way.

If so then how many "real" feminists do we have compared to the man-haters masquerading as feminists? Prob very few :(

IMO a real feminist wouldn't say s**t like "all men are pigs all men are rapists all mean are x and y" a feminist would treat each person as an individual not tar everyone with the same stereotype paint.
Technically I am a feminist since I believe both genders should have equal rights, but I decline to label myself as a feminist since the label seems to be misused so much.

I'm male btw.

"the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men."

A dictionary definition, which you will often hear a "feminist" quote in reply to someone who points out any misandry and hating to them as if it somehow excuses/justifies it.

What you say is exactly the case, which is why 'certain unnamed cunning souls (ratchets eyebrows)' have created the parallel between the twin terms 'Faux Feminism' and 'Feminism'.

Faux Feminism' is false feminism, the world dominance and man-bashing kind. Feminism is the gentle garden variety that all agree with - genuine equality for all.

Feminists do not believe in equality between the sexes, they are man-hating female supremacists and always have been. All one has to do is look at the political, legal, and social actions of feminists to know that, and actions speak louder than empty words.

Any hate group spews ridiculous propaganda, but only stupid people listen to that.

For that very reason the definition of feminism has altered, most people now define feminism as "organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests", so, there's no mention of equality in there and the men-hating ones you mention are indeed feminists if they are fighting for women's interests, it's not important whether they are totally against men, as long as they are pro-women they are feminists.

I don't know.

Most of the feminists I have met have been really aggressive, angry and arrogant. This however is anecdotal and I don't suspect it is indicative of the collective movement.

This is a lot like atheists. A lot of atheists I've met (being an atheists myself), are loudmouth, obnoxious, arrogant pricks. The only atheists I've ever met who are worth listening to are writers, scientists, doctors, a few of my professors and one engineer. Like any other movement, only the intelligent/educated people in it warrant listening to. You usually find these in the library, not in the ally buying mace.

You are right; real feminists want male - female parity. They are certainly worth listening to...but don't waste you time with angry irrational people who are just looking for a fight.

You should read about Camille Paglia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camille_Paglia#Relationship_to_feminism

She accuses modern feminists for this very crime: skewing the fundamental and original goals of feminism and creating a "Stalinist, man-hating" regime of "hypocrites."

I have to agree with the statements in your question -- this woman may be a "feminist" in that she (quite ardently) strives for female empowerment, but seems to act like a hypocrite for spewing such asinine diatribe. She herself is guilty of what she preaches against.

Very apt observation, btw. Unfortunately behavior like this seems pretty common amongst feminists :-{

Women already have equal rights in civilized countries. Since they got them here in the west they have been all about female superiority. If feminists are really about equal rights then why do they not get rid of chivalry? Where the man has to ask the woman out, pay for the woman's meals, bring her gifts, etc.

You are wrong in saying there are few feminists though. In "uncivilized" areas women are beginning to fight for equal rights. I approve of this feminism, however; I do not approve of the feminism we have here in the west that is based off female superiority.

Hope I helped,
RainFame

No, she is not a feminist. There are many more normal feminists who want equality and nothing more but we are less interesting so you get the focus on the lunatics.
