the foundation of the world? then isn't god responsible for evil because he set the whole thing up in advance?
According to Christians, Jesus' atonement was made and accepted in God's foreordaining before the foundation of the world, so that penitent and believing offerers of sacrifices in the Old Testament were accepted on the ground of it. This is based on the following biblical scripture.
1 Peter 1:20 "Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you"
Revelation 13:8 "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."
If Christ's atonement was made and accepted in God's foreordaining, then god is responsible for evil. If god is responsible for evil, THEN Adam and Eve are not responsible for evil. Therefore, god is responsible for evil, and adam and eve are NOT responsible for evil.
This is verified by god himself when he proclaims:
"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things." Isaiah 45:7
xx--when a father comes home knowing in advance that if he left a box of poisoned chocolates on the coffee table, and that his 2 year old twins adam and eve would eat them, but goes ahead anyway and leaves the poisoned chocolates within reach of his 2 year old twins and they ate them and died......the FATHER would be RESPONSIBLE and we would consider him to be a MONSTER!
The bible tells us that Adam and Eve were like babes, and had no knowledge of good and evil before eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
An all knowing, all good and all powerful god who can see all the different possible worlds ought to have created a world in which Adam and Eve had free will but CHOSE not to eat off of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and thereby avoiding evil and chaos in the world. We know this is possible according to the Christian conception, because this is what heaven is like.
The "grand designer" could not come up with a better plan than this......how sad.
