If I open up a cellphone contract, can I switch it over to another handset provided

by the carrier? There are a couple phones being released in a few months that I'm choosing between, but I need a phone for business right now. So if I committed to a contract right now, would I be able to switch it over to another phone in a few months? Would there be specific fees and would it be exclusive to certain carriers or would it just mean renewing my contract?
 
It depends on the content of your contract. If there is an agreement that you can switch to another provider then you can. You can also make another contract with a different provider and the fees may vary.
