...actually be? I was wondering this because where I live now it says I have 7 Mbps dl and 11 mbps ul and I only max out at 500 kbps dl and 1 mbps ul.
So when I move to my new place I want to know if I buy this supposedly super fast internet how fast would it actually be?

It depends on how good your line is if you have a perfect line then at 50mbps you'll have downloads of about 6mb/s and at 2mbps upload you'll get about 256kb/s

That is however if you get a perfect line, i have a 50meg line but it constantly varies from 20 to 45ish so it could vary. you might have to do some research around your area to see what others are getting and ask them what sort of speed they say you shoudl get

1) Your upload will never be faster than your download.
2) 7 mbps gives a theoretical maximum of 875 KB/sec
3) Download speed also depends on the server you're connected to
4) 50 mbps is equivalent to about 6.25 MB/sec download speeds
