If I rebuild the engine on a 1973 VW Bus could I make it run like new?

you can probably make it run better than new. hone out the engine and increase piston size. throw a turbo on it for increased horses so that way u can get up and go. ull have a decent V W

If it's a camper they're fun, but since they're so low HP vehicles,I generally hate getting stuck behind any VW on the freeway or hills,lol

As for rebuilding, of course you can make it run like new. just give it a real good clean out, repair/replace parts as needed and it should be fine
