If I use my old verizon cell phone with a phone card, will it retain its old number?

I have a Verizon w315 from an old service plan. It was only turned off a couple months ago. I was looking up track phones to save some money in the future and I found the exact same phone as mine. So I was wondering if it was just as easy as buying a card? Or do I have to call up Verizon to set it up that way. Also was wondering if it retained its old phone number, or if I have to set that up with Verizon too.

Thanks,
and please don't make up answers, its obvious and a waste of time.

What ever the Number is on the sim card + the Cell Networks are figuring out people are doing this . When you make a call the Phone Number of the sim and the IMEI number of the phone is sent . If these don't match up the could restricted your Service.

if its prepaid then it might or might not have the same number bc after a period of time of being off that long the number might have gone to another person...call it and see but if not you can prolly call verizon with the card and reactivate it but ull prolly pay an activation fee..or something maybe not it depemds!...sorry...hope it helped
