If my truck computer wont let the mechanic reset engine light?

my trucks computer wont let the mechanic reset the check engine light. He tested his computer on other vehicles and it works but not on my truck. In order for him to change the part he wants me to have computer checked. Is there another way to get this done besides going to a car dealer?Its a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500

take it to an independent shop that is trust worthy. sounds like this dealer is hoping to sell you a very pricey computer that most likely you don't need. a second opinion can't hurt and don't tell the new guy what the first one said that way you will no if you were being lied to.
