If the United Nations gets it's way later this year, won't that set

Bible prophecy back to square one ? Until now, I thought Israel becoming a nation again in 1948 was a sign of the end. I also thought "the times of the Gentiles" might have begun in 70 A.D. and ended in 1967 when Jews gained possession of the city. Now, it looks like it may go back to the Gentiles.

Here is my breakdown of Luke 21:24

"And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations:" - happened in 70 A.D.

"and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles" - from 70 A.D. until 1967.

"until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." - Beginning in 1967.

If the pre-1967 borders happen, 44 years will go down the toilet and we can't expect the Second Coming any time soon.

Now my question: If Isreal goes back to pre-1967 borders and Jerusalem comes under Palestinian control, will that mean the "times of the Gentiles" won't end in our lifetime and we might as well not expect Christ to return for many years?

It will never go back to the 1967 borders. Netanyahu has said so. That would be suicide for them. God promised Israel to the Jews and it will never be out of their hands again. The God/Magog war of Ezekiel 38 and 39 is lined up and about to happen. Russia will lead the Islamic nations against Israel and God will slaughter that army so only 1/6th of them are left. Read those chapters for yourself. It names all the nations involved.

The "time of the Gentiles" in that context actually refers to the 70th week of Daniel when Israel has again been exiled and has taken refuge somewhere in the desert of Jordan. During that time the antichrist will have taken over Jerusalem and established it as a trade center. It'll become sort of a New Babylon. It will remain in Gentile hands until the last bowl judgment. Then God will begin the 75-day process of restoring the country of Israel--along with all of Jerusalem--to the people of Israel.

There is not a chance in Hades that Israel will concede to that. They'd nuke every capital in the Middle-East before they would.

One one hand you are talking about religious theory, and on the other, about political practice and power. They are both incredible fickle and fallible.

I have a slightly different interpretation. I believe in the scriptures when the talk about the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled will happen when the Jews believe in Jesus and turn to Christianity. We see this happening in small amounts right now, but I don't think this prophecy will be in fulfillment until at least 70-80% of the Jews are Christians.

I think if Isreal goes back to the pre-1967 borders, the Jews will still have control of Jerusalem except the small part that will be in the Palestine country. But I do not believe that God will let this happen.

I also think Obama will have his hands too full soon with a war with Pakistan (as well as China) before he can force Israel to go to the pre-1967 borders.

It is commendable that you are watcdhing world events eagerly.

Jesus death brought an end to the literal Jewish nations special covenant with God.
Jesus taught that future 'Jews' would be a spiritual kind who obeyed Gods commands by their free choice and not national birth.
Romans 2: 25-29 tells of a heart attitude that would motivate Christians to prove their faith by works to Jehovah God and not to men.

You will get more about Gods view of religions by reading Revelation chapters 17 & 18 about how political entities will destroy all religion very soon.

The Bible would have to contain true prophecies (which it does not) to be reset. Since the Bible does not contain even a single true prophecy, it is a moot question.
