from what i've heard the whole thing sounds stupid.....it's like you get 30 per year but in all actuality it's not like that at all.

You can't take off like more than a few days if even 1week at a time....and you can't go very far?

Say I wanted to travel to another country for a week or 2 with my days....that wouldn't even be possible thats stupid!!! instead its like here take a day or 2 off stick around the neighborhood and come back

Yes, you earn the leave, but it is pretty extensive to take it, and very rare to take all 30 in one chunk. Technically, you can go anywhere in the world on the weekend if you can make it safely to work on Monday (without taking leave). The mission doesn't allow everybody to take huge blocks of leave so you have to de-conflict it with your work area, Exercises, Field Training, etc. If you plan ahead far enough and have the support of your chain of command, you can go pretty much anywhere in the world you want. Nonetheless, you'll likely have to get a Passport or temp. Visa to get to the place you want and I encourage you to go Space A military air travel.

Are you asking a question or just using that as a basis for your ignorant, ill-informed rant?

You CAN take it all in one block. and you can go just about anywhere in the world. I have friends in Japan who take their 30 days off and go visit home.

You have to get it approved, and unless you are vitally important to something going on during the days you request leave, it will be.
