If you were reading a story about two young women traveling?

If you were reading a story about two women in their mid-20s traveling across the U.S., what would you expect them to be traveling for?
 
They could be traveling just for the hell of it -- they're bored out of their wits and there's nothing better to do. Or, one of the two could be carrying some kind of emotional baggage she needs to let go of. Or they're looking for something or someone special.
