Im just wondering whether its possible to play a blue ray file (which i have downloaded on my hardrive), on my new samsung 7series 3D tv? The TV has a USB port, is it just as simple as plug it in and play or are there other steps?
also what other video formats will it play?? Thanks
I dont have a blue ray player, im asking if i can play the files from my hard drive directly into the TV, via the USB port.

possible., - your blue rays player has to have a compatible output for TV. usually its component where u have 3 types of output.

Read your manual.

One guy had his kid plug a flash drive into the USB port of their new TV - and it turned it into a brick. The USB port is usually only for firmware updates or for .jpg slideshows.

You need a "Media Server" like the Western Digital or Rokyu unit. These run $79-$99 and have USB slots for flash drive or hard drive and HDMI output. These box's have the firmware to handle AVI, WMV, MPG, MP4, FLV, etc.

Note: the Rokuy units are said to be on sale at Wallmart this week for Fathers day.
