Illustrator CS5 crashes on startup? Windows PC?

Ive installed CS5 and it loads the splash screen then loads the program but 3 seconds later it crashes.
Ive read a lot about CS4 doing this too. I've seen something about deleting preferences on a Mac etc however i am on a PC with windows Vista so have no idea how to get to those.

Any help? :-) thankyou
