Im a minecraft newbie, and I have some questions. EASY 10 points?

Minecraft has taken me by surprise, it's the best computer game I have ever played, at least in terms o building.

I just need some help from other crafters out there to help me learn more about this game. I learned a ton from google and Youtube but I could really use some additional help straight from the crafters:


What are some crafting recipes I NEED to know to keep me alive in survival mode? (Please at least 10 already know crafting table)

Can Monsters break down shelters you make? Are you completely safe when in a shelter, or do I have to "pray for day" xD

Best seed for survival? (you don't have to answer this to get ten points)

Great tuts to keep me learning.

Bonus question: Chocolate or peanut butter cookies?

It has everything you need right up to the current update.

Creepers (exploding zombies) can destroy your foundations. They won't usually enter your house area unless you've built it out in plain sight near a spawning area. Try and build it somewhere where they won't really venture to. And build some fortifications around your actual house.

Some crafting recipes you have to know are the tool ones. You basically need sticks and either wood planks, stone, Gold(not recommended), iron, or diamond here is a website about crafting that can help you http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting the tools you need to kill monsters are swords. to mine it is a pick axe. to dig fast dirt or gravel a shovel. to cutdown trees faster an axe and to farm it is a hoe(haha)
monsters can not break down ur shelter but may spawn in them if there is not enough light in the house make sure to put down a lot of torches.
there isnt a best seed but look up some ones depending on the region you want

and i recommend for you to play on peaceful and when u finish building your house move up to easy

For a list of everything in the game and how to make them you can check out minecraft wiki. Your shelter will be completley safe if it is well lit inside and enclosed. Mobs cannot open doors so they are safe. Mobs will not attack your buildings but endermen, the tall dark creatures, can pick up single blocks and move then leaving holes in your walls and creepers can damage them if they blow up trying to kill you and happen to be near or in your home. You can make a bed to sleep in at night. Make a bed with 3 wool blocks over 3 wood blocks. you can only sleep when there are no monsters around but sleeping will also make the bed your spawn point so when you die you will appear in your house. Okay, so these are the crafting recipes that are important and necessary to your survival in survival mode:

1. Swords - to kill monsters and animals.
2. Picks - to mine for coal, iron, cobblestone, gold, redstone, diamond, and lapiz lazulli.
3. Axes - gathers wood faster.
4. Shovel - gathers and breaks through dirt much faster, along with sand and gravel.
5. Furnace - used to 'heat up" resources into other necessary materials for use.
Example - place coal on the bottom slot and sand on the top slot and then wait a few seconds for it to "cook" and you get glass!
6. Chests - used to store your items inside
7. Door - to go inside and out your shelter or home easier.
8. Torch - this is one of the most important, it lights up dark areas and prevents monsters from spawning around the area where the torch is placed.
9. Armor - now this is truly important for providing yourself protection against monsters. Making armor out of diamond is the best one you could possibly have since it provides you with the most protection.* Diamond can be found deep underground and some people say that it may be found around lava.
10. Meat (food) - not made from a recipe but still is very important because it restores hearts. Cooked meat (food) restores more hearts than uncooked meat.**

Now about your shelter. Monsters cannot break down shelters, and in case you don't know the monsters, here is a little info on them.

Creepers - these guys are green with some dark and light green spots on them as well as white spots. They make a sort of hissing sound and explode when they make contact with you.
Spiders - obviously are spiders and can jump up really high, so it is recommended that you build a ceiling in your shelter.
Skeletions - they are white colored and carry bows, so watch out, they can fire at you from long distances.
Zombies - they have the same clothing as you but have green skin and all they do is melee you.

*Diamond is the best resource you can make with for your swords, picks, axes, shovels, and armor. They have a long duration for use.
** Cooked meat can be made in the furnace by placing coal on the bottom slot and uncooked meat on the top slot.
