I'm an aspiring Chef, what are some good books would you recommend me buying?

You see, I'm an 18 year old amateur cook; a beginner amateur cook at that. And I plan on having a career in the Culinary world. I haven't had any sort of training so I am wondering if there are good books out there to help me with culinary knowledge, such as terminologies and the basics I have to know before going to Culinary school...

Cooking is my passion and it's the path I want to take even if my family want's me to be in the medical field. I'm a late bloomer so i'm gonna need all the culinary-book-smart I can get.
