I'm Going to Be a College Freshman and my Parents wont let me dorm?

I'm going to rutgers and they wont let me dorm for freshman year, only sophomore year and onward. I'm pretty sure at rutgers it will be harder to get a dorm room as a sophomore. Please give me good reasons to tell my parents why I need to be allowed to use the dorm room!!!
