I'm having issues with the sound on my iPhone and can't figure out why?

The sound was working on my phone but now it won't when I open an app like iHeart radio or any app that should have sound. Any suggestions? It's just a regular iPhone, not the new one that just came out and I've checked all of my sound settings already.
Yes I have checked the switch on the side too
