I'm looking for this kind of sci-fi novels?

Where an alien species tries to take over earth or humans. Something similar to War of the Worlds. Another book that comes to mind is Stephenie Meyer's The Host, which I might read in a few months.

Any suggestions?

The Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card is my favorite series of all time. It deals with aliens, war, time dilating through space travel, politics, genetically altered humans, religion, faster than light travel, concepts of the universe... everything! It's simply amazing!!

The Ender Saga:

*Speaker For The Dead
*Xenocide
*Children of the Mind

There is a parallel series to go with it called Shadow series...

*Ender's Shadow (basically along the same timeline as Ender's Game)
*Shadow of the Hegemon
*Shadow Puppets
*Shadow of the Giant
