Im only 12 but want to make a website making calendars and greeting cards...?

Ok my mom said it would be ok if I had help and I know nothing about making websites. Im good with making cards and calendars because I have a mac and I know how to do both very well. Is it legal for a 12 year old to sell calendars and greeting cards? How much money does it cost to make one and who do I have to contact or what URL do I need to go to? Im not planning on making one now but for the future if I have my brother who's great with computers help me or someone with as much experience with computers to help me, then I'd like a little more information. Thanks! _Kim
just because im 12 doesnt mean im incapable of doing anything, if I hadnt put my age people would treat me like an adult. Im not 5 you know.

Kim. Strictly speaking your not old enough to be on this site.But I wouldn't bother to ask on here. I would type in your question on one of the search engines.There are lots of websites doing what you want to do.Look at cutoutandkeep.net or diynetwork.com or TipNut.com Get some ideas and then think about it.Good Luck anyhow.

Actually I think its a great idea that you are putting you talents to work. Starting a business at this age will teach you the value of money. You can hire a website designer - however they come wiht a price tag (but it is an option). Or your brother can help you of course - you would have to pay a monthly fee to host a website on a server - so you would have to research companies.

Please before you start this, think of who your customers would be. Who would purchase cards and calenders? What age are they? What are their lives like? Where can you reach these people so that they know about your business ?

Also, what makes your cards and calenders better than the rest? Perhaps you personalize your cards and calenders with the customers photos ?


Just think about everything, and write it down on paper. Discuss it with your mother. Maybe you can find a book that will help you understand starting a business. Make a logo, come up with a business name. When it comes to advertising you could also make a facebook page for your business, and post examples. Invite your friends and family to your page, and make a fan page and a group. Be sure to post online free classifieds like craigslist and kijiji.
