in 89 vw had the fox,jetta,rabbit cars my question is.. are the motors the same?

my vw fox has the 1.8 inline 4 and every site that i go to has parts for the rabbit or the jetta but not for the fox and i need to know wat the diff is or if there is one at all

My information says the same engine was used in the Golf, Jetta, Rabbit, and Scirocco (engine codes JH, MZ) 1982-89
However there was a different engine used in the 89 Golf Cabriolet (Engine code 2H).
There was a variant engine also used in the Golf and the Jetta during the years of 1984-1991 also (engine code HT, RV)
The last engine that could be found in these cars (Golf and Jetta) for the years of 1985-1991 was an engine codes of RD, PF
(RV and PF were the codes for 1987-1991)
Clear as mud I am sure.
For what is is worth, car-part.com only shows Fox engines on the interchange.
