in pokemon pearl why isnt my internet working to trade wirelessly?

when i play my pokemon game i really want to trade with people but my internet will not work even when im right in front of the internet.
Please help!!!

Hi my internet doesn't work as well.
But if you go on nintendo.com and
select troubleshooting, somewhere
on the page there will be a list of
all modems that will allow your
ds to go the internet
