Interesting things to read about History (wars, etc.) or similar topics?

Bit of a weird question, but I have a slight interest in History and learning about wars, politics and other things.

For example, my Sociology teacher mentioned about the 'Moonies' and their religious cult, so I went and researched it and found it quite interesting. However, I don't know what else to look up, like specific wars and things.

Any example of some wars, interesting things that have happened in religion, politics?
I don't need any links to pages unless you feel inclined to, I just need some ideas of what to research and read up on.

oh cool! i love history too!! :) expectational wars! :) i am sure you already studied the civil war, WW I, WW 2 (my fav. btw)...and the other earlier ones.... med-evil times... and times like that :) (William the conqueror...ppl like him...pretty cool :))

Look at Luther- he's a fun guy. The Roman conquest is another, very expansive topic. The french revolution and Robespierre never ceases to amaze me with their endless silliness. Also look into Calvinism, John Locke, Voltaire and Rousseau.

Research some of the biggest wars: World War I and II, Civil War (it's not just about slavery), American Revolution etc...

If you want a good SHOW about World War II btw, I love the HBO series, "Band of Brothers". Tells the story of 101st Airborne during the fight against Germany. Apparently they came up with another one called "The Pacific" but I haven't watched that one.

And you could also research important times in our history: Great Depression, Spanish Influenza, The Plague, French Revolution, etc...

Good luck :)
