internet bandwidth question ?

i have cable xp and when i try watch video on youtube it pause then play off and on. someone told it could be my bandwidth if i let the video load it play fine. xp 3.00 ghz 1 gb ram i use firefox and IE same on both. i have java and flash player lates. only 2 my virus program and my speaker next to clock. all my temp files clean out and did defrag . anyone know what to do speed my internet up ? thanks.

Go to this site. It will tell you your internet speed.

Divide your speed result by 8 to find how many kilobytes a second you are downloading. If you are getting less than a 100 kilobytes a sec when you divide by 8 then your connection is under 1 mb. Like a previous poster says you should be able to watch it relatively smoothly at about 50-65k a second

Your computer specs dont realy make a difference most of the time although it might help with the smoothness of the video etc but not alot.

You can not improve this connetion. You simply have to updgare your package with whatever internet providor you have
