We own a Windows XP Microsoft IE. We just installed a new Linksys router (RangePlus). We have two laptops (Dell) and a Xbox360 gaming system. We continue to get connection interuptions on all three as well as our main desktop computer which is connected directly to the internet (not through the router). We tested the router and modem and concluded that they both appear the be functions correctly. We have an Optimum connection (comcast) that leads from the wall to the modem which connects to the main computer and the wireless router. My question is, how do we correct the constant internet interuption i.e the internet turning off and then on shortly after.
Note:
We had optimum come to look at the internet problem. They saw the Motorola router with all lights on, fixed a "frozen cable" and left. This did nothing for the internet. On my linksys router, the 2nd ethernet port light is on (blinks 2 or 3 times every couple of seconds) the wifi light is on and blinks shortly on and off (at times its faster but sometimes its just a few quick flashes) the internet thing (looks like saturn) blinks 24/7 and of course the power light is on. I have an ethernet cable connecting to the main computer and an internet cable connecting the router and modem. the modem is attached to whatever the wall unit thing is.
Also, i have found that whenever a device that uses wifi is turned on/off, the internet shuts down for a few minutes.
The internet was fine before we moved the setup to another place. Could it be the telephone/internet jack in the wall?
