Right then.. the other day my internet stops working. I use Google Chrome mainly and it comes up with a message saying: Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed.
Since i also have IE and Firefox I tried them and they too did not work.

Ive been on the the Internet company but they can't help because its not their issue - their end is fine its my computer that is playing up.

Ive checked the firewall and all of the programmes are in the trusted list.

It may make no difference but the other day my little cousin decided it would be fun to press 'LOCKDOWN FIREWALL' in McAfee. No problem, i just unlocked the firewall. But then he pressed disable on the connection icon. Once more i just pressed enable but it was after that that the internet failed to work.

I know its not the connection because my laptop works fine on it.Right then.. the other day my internet stops working. I use Google Chrome mainly and it comes up with a message saying: Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed.

Have you found a solution yet? I am having the exact same problem. I have to reboot my computer all the time after I have been surfing the internet for a while. I have tried clearing the cache, the private data, disable the modem, etc. It's driving me crazy!

I had the same problem, but neither Chrome or IE worked, but Firefox worked fine. If the problem isnt with your fire wall try this. After a little poking around I found that IE and Chrome both use the same type of means to access the internet so, this is what worked for me.

Open IE and on the menu: Tools -> Internet Options
Hit the Connections tab, then hit the LAN Settings button and UNCHECK
"Use a proxy server for your LAN", then OK both windows.
refresh the browser and it should work.

hope this helps.
