There is a couple computers on a home network. Recently the router died and there is a temporary replacement being used. My computer connects just fine as its a newer custom built computer but my fathers computer (an older dell) cannot connect to the same network. I've tried the integrated Ethernet as well as the Ethernet card that was installed a while back. With the internet working just fine from all the other computers, what could be wrong with my fathers. When it tries to renew its IP address, it can't for some reason. Could it be that the Ethernet on the computer blew out when the router blew out (its happened before)?
